How to Configure Outlook (Manual or Automatic)

Step 1: Open Outlook

• Open Microsoft Outlook
• If it’s your first time, a setup wizard will start
• If not:
  Go to File → Account Settings → Add Account

Step 2: Choose Your Account Type

Automatic Setup (Recommended)

Just enter your email address and password, and Outlook tries to configure everything.

Works best for:

• Gmail
• Outlook.com
• Yahoo
• Microsoft 365 accounts

Manual Setup (Advanced)

Choose: Manual setup or additional server types

Then pick:

• POP or IMAP → for Gmail/Yahoo/custom mail
• Microsoft Exchange → for corporate/office accounts

IMAP & SMTP Settings (for Gmail / Custom Email)

For Gmail Users with 2FA:

You must create an App Password at:
https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

Use that instead of your regular password in Outlook.

Final Step: Test Account Settings

Outlook will try to log in and send a test email.
If all checks pass → Done!
If it fails, recheck your server settings and password.

Bonus Tips

• Custom Domains (e.g., name@yourcompany.com):
  • Get IMAP/SMTP settings from your hosting provider (GoDaddy, Hostinger, etc.)
  • Use same manual setup steps as Gmail, just with different servers
• Office 365 / Exchange Accounts:
  • Usually auto-configured with just your email & password
  • For some companies, you may need a domain/Exchange server address.
